Indulge in a warm slice of Zwiebelkuchen, a traditional German onion tart enriched with smoky bacon and creamy quark. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends.

- 500 g onions
- 200 g bacon
- 250 g quark
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 prepared pie crust
- salt to taste salt

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until it's crispy. Remove and set aside.

In the same skillet, sauté the thinly sliced onions in the bacon fat until they are soft and translucent, about 10 minutes.

In a mixing bowl, combine the quark (or sour cream), beaten eggs, cooked bacon, sautéed onions, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Place the prepared pie crust into a pie dish and pour the onion mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before slicing.
