- 2 cups Basmati rice
- 453.6 g Lamb or beef, diced
- 1 large Onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup Carrots, julienned
- 1 cup Green peas
- 4 cups Water or broth
- 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil or ghee
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon Saffron strands
Method

Heat the vegetable oil or ghee in a large pot over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.

Stir in the diced lamb or beef, and cook until browned on all sides.

Add the carrots, green peas, salt, and ground cumin, and stir well.

Pour in the water or broth and bring to a boil. Once boiling, add the soaked rice.

Reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for about 20 minutes or until the rice is tender.

If using saffron, dissolve it in a tablespoon of warm water and drizzle it over the cooked rice before serving.
