Indulge in these delightful Czech Větrníky, airy cream puffs filled with luscious vanilla pudding and topped with sweet whipped cream. Perfect for a festive dessert or a cozy afternoon treat with coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup vanilla pudding

Method

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. 2

In a saucepan, combine water and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  3. 3

Once boiling, add flour all at once and stir quickly until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  4. 4

Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Then, beat in eggs one at a time until the mixture is smooth and glossy.

  5. 5

Drop tablespoon-sized mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. 6

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.

  7. 7

Allow the pastries to cool, then cut a small slit in each to release steam.

  8. 8

Fill with whipped cream and vanilla pudding mixture, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
