Ingredients

  • 1 cup urad dal (split black gram)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 green chilies Ingredient 3
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • to taste salt
  • oil for frying vegetable oil

Method

    Drain the soaked urad dal and blend it in a food processor to a smooth batter. You can add a little water if necessary.

    Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl and add chopped onion, green chilies, ginger, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, and salt. Mix well.

    Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.

    Take a small portion of the batter and shape it into a donut or round shape. Carefully slide it into the hot oil.

    Fry the vadas until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.

    Remove the fried vadas with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
