Indulge in the sweet, spiraled delight of Trdelník, a traditional Czech pastry with a crispy caramelized crust and warm cinnamon aroma. Perfect for a cozy weekend treat or a festive gathering with friends.

Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 ml milk
  • 75 g butter
  • 50 g granulated sugar
  • 10 g instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 100 g ground cinnamon

Method

    In a large bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

    Add the melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture, then stir to combine.

    Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth.

    Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

    Once risen, preheat your grill or oven to 200°C (392°F). Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces and roll each piece into long strips.

    Wrap each piece around a greased wooden dowel or rolling pin, then roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
