Savor the sweet and savory harmony of homemade teriyaki chicken, featuring tender thighs glazed in a rich soy sauce and mirin blend. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a delightful weekend feast.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Method

  1. 1

In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sesame oil. Stir until sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

Cut chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

  3. 3

In a skillet over medium heat, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  4. 4

Add the marinated chicken (including the marinade) to the skillet. Cook for about 7-10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.

  5. 5

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry.

  6. 6

Pour the cornstarch slurry into the skillet and stir well. Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  7. 7

Serve the teriyaki chicken over rice or with steamed vegetables. Enjoy!
