Experience the heartwarming flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine with Tashreeb, a comforting lamb stew infused with spices and served over torn flatbread. Ideal for cozy weeknight dinners or gatherings with loved ones.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams lamb or beef, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 liter water
  • 4 pieces flatbread (Khubz), torn into pieces
  • salt to taste salt
  • pepper to taste black pepper

Method

  1. 1

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent.

  2. 2

Add the minced garlic, ground cumin, and ground turmeric to the pot. Stir well and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  3. 3

Add the lamb or beef pieces to the pot, cooking until browned on all sides.

  4. 4

Pour in the water, season with salt and black pepper, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 40-50 minutes until the meat is tender.

  5. 5

Once the meat is cooked, add the torn pieces of flatbread to the pot, allowing them to soak in the broth and soften for a few minutes.

  6. 6

Serve hot, ensuring that each bowl has a good mix of meat and bread soaked in the rich broth.
