Indulge in the creamy sweetness of Suspiro Limeño, a traditional Peruvian dessert that combines rich evaporated and condensed milk with a hint of cinnamon. Perfect for a special occasion or to impress guests at your next dinner party.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Method

    In a saucepan, combine the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and cornstarch. Stir until smooth.

    Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring continuously until it thickens. Once thickened, remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

    While the mixture cools, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the meringue.

    In a clean bowl, whip the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the granulated sugar while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
