Experience the heartwarming flavors of Sudado de Carne, a traditional Colombian beef stew simmered with aromatic spices, tomatoes, and cilantro. Perfect for cozy weeknight dinners or gatherings with loved ones.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef (chuck or brisket)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 sprigs cilantro

Method

  1. 1

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.

  2. 2

Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  4. 4

Add the beef chunks to the pot and brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.

  5. 5

Mix in the chopped tomatoes, beef broth (or water), and ground cumin. Bring to a boil.

  6. 6

Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

  7. 7

After an hour, check the beef for tenderness and continue to simmer if necessary, for an additional 20-30 minutes.

  8. 8

Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro, and enjoy with rice or yuca.
