Indulge in the warm, fluffy goodness of Sopaipillas, a delightful treat featuring pumpkin puree and a hint of cinnamon. Perfect for a cozy weekend brunch or as a sweet snack any time of day.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 cup oil for frying
- to taste cinnamon sugar optional for topping
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- 2
Add the pumpkin puree and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until crumbly.
- 3
Gradually add the warm water, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- 4
Divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each ball out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- 5
Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the rolled-out dough pieces in the hot oil until they puff up and turn golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- 6
Remove the sopaipillas from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- 7
Serve warm, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar if desired.
