Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina (suji)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup ghee
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts (almonds, pistachios)
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon rose water

Method

    In a pan, heat the ghee over medium heat until it melts completely.

    Add the semolina to the ghee and roast it, stirring continuously until it turns a golden brown color.

    In a separate pot, combine the water, milk, and sugar. Bring this mixture to a boil.

    Once the milk mixture is boiling, gradually add it to the roasted semolina, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

    Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.

    Add cardamom powder and rose water, and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes.

    Pour the halwa into a greased plate and spread it evenly. Let it cool slightly.

    Garnish with chopped mixed nuts, cut into pieces, and serve warm or at room temperature.
