Savor the delicate flavors of these steamed shumai, filled with tender ground pork and succulent shrimp, accented by fresh green onions and a hint of sesame. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams ground pork
  • 100 grams shrimp
  • 2 tablespoons green onions
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons carrots

Method

  1. 1

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped shrimp, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper, and carrots. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

  2. 2

Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture in the center.

  3. 3

Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then gather the sides and pinch them together to form a open-top dumpling shape.

  4. 4

Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling until all are used.

  5. 5

Prepare a steamer over boiling water and arrange the shumai in a single layer on a steaming tray, making sure they do not touch each other.

  6. 6

Steam the shumai for about 10-15 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.

  7. 7

Serve hot with soy sauce or dipping sauce of your choice.
