- 4 cups water

Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps to remove excess starch.

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the rinsed rice and cook for about 10-12 minutes until the rice is tender.

Once the rice is cooked, drain any excess water and set it aside.

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the cooked rice back to the pot, along with the milk, sugar, ground cardamom, toasted almonds, and raisins.
