Savor the bold flavors of Shashlik, a traditional skewered meat dish marinated in garlic, onions, and spices. Perfect for a weekend barbecue or a festive gathering with friends and family.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 800 grams lamb or pork shoulder
- 2 medium onions
- 4 cloves garlic
- 100 ml vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon paprika
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the lamb or pork shoulder cubes, sliced onions, minced garlic, vegetable oil, vinegar, ground black pepper, salt, and paprika. Mix well to coat the meat thoroughly.
- 2
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for the best flavor.
- 3
Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning while grilling.
- 4
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated meat onto the soaked skewers, leaving some space between each piece.
- 5
Grill the skewers for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally until the meat is cooked through and has a nice char.
- 6
Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
- 7
Serve hot with fresh vegetables, pita bread, or rice, and enjoy your authentic shashlik!
