Experience the heartwarming flavors of Japanese shabu-shabu, featuring tender beef, fresh shiitake mushrooms, and crisp bok choy. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a fun gathering with friends, this dish brings everyone together around the table.

Ingredients

  • 300 grams thinly sliced beef (such as ribeye or sirloin)
  • 200 grams shiitake mushrooms
  • 200 grams bok choy
  • 150 grams tofu
  • 1 cup dipping sauce (such as ponzu or sesame sauce)
  • 1 liter water
  • 1 cup green onions

Method

  1. 1

In a large pot, bring 1 liter of water to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

Once boiling, reduce the heat to a gentle simmer.

  3. 3

Begin adding the sliced beef, cooking it quickly in the simmering water for about 10 seconds or until just cooked.

  4. 4

Add the shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, and tofu to the pot, allowing them to cook for another 1-2 minutes.

  5. 5

Remove the cooked ingredients from the pot with chopsticks and place them in individual bowls.

  6. 6

Serve the cooked ingredients with dipping sauce and garnish with chopped green onions.

  7. 7

Enjoy your Shabu-Shabu by dipping the ingredients into the sauce as you eat!
