Warm your soul with a bowl of Seolleongtang, a traditional Korean beef bone soup simmered to perfection. Enjoy this hearty dish with tender brisket and rice for a comforting weeknight dinner.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 kg beef bones
- 500 g brisket
- 2 liters water
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp pepper
- 4 stems green onions
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
Method
- 1
In a large pot, combine the beef bones and water. Bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.
- 2
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 6 hours. Skim off any foam or impurities that rise to the surface.
- 3
After 6 hours, add the brisket to the pot and continue to simmer for an additional 1 hour.
- 4
Remove the brisket from the pot, let it cool slightly, then slice it thinly.
- 5
Strain the broth through a fine mesh sieve into another pot to remove the bones and any solids.
- 6
Season the broth with salt and pepper to taste. Return the sliced brisket to the broth.
- 7
Serve hot with chopped green onions and a bowl of cooked rice on the side. Soy sauce can be added for extra flavor if desired.
