Indulge in the comforting warmth of Schupfnudeln, a delightful German potato noodle dish. Perfectly pan-fried with a hint of butter, these tender noodles are ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 g potatoes
- 150 g all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- to taste black pepper
- to taste sugar
Method
- 1
Peel the potatoes and boil them in salted water until tender, about 20 minutes.
- 2
Drain the potatoes and let them cool slightly. Mash the potatoes until smooth.
- 3
In a bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, flour, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- 4
On a floured surface, shape the dough into long, thin rolls about 1 cm thick. Cut into 5 cm pieces and shape each piece into a tapered noodle.
- 5
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the Schupfnudeln and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- 6
Season with black pepper or sugar according to your taste, and serve warm.
