Enjoy the warm, spiced goodness of homemade samosas, filled with tender potatoes and vibrant green peas, all encased in a crispy shell. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or as a delightful appetizer at your next gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 medium potatoes
- 1 cup green peas
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- to taste salt
- oil for frying Ingredient 9
Method
- 1
In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with vegetable oil and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- 2
In a pan, heat a little oil and add cumin seeds. Once they crackle, add the boiled and mashed potatoes, green peas, salt, and garam masala. Mix well and cook for a few minutes. Allow the filling to cool.
- 3
Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin oval shape. Cut the oval in half to form two semi-circles.
- 4
Take one semi-circle and form a cone by folding it and sealing the edge with water. Fill the cone with the potato-pea mixture and seal the open edge by pinching it tightly.
- 5
Repeat the process for the remaining dough and filling. Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
- 6
Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the samosas into the oil and fry until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- 7
Remove the samosas and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with chutney or sauce.
