Indulge in the warm, spiced goodness of homemade samoosas, filled with savory minced lamb and aromatic spices. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or as a delightful appetizer at your next gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 300 grams minced lamb or beef
- 1 medium onion
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Method
- 1
In a bowl, combine the flour, 4 tablespoons of oil, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add water until a smooth dough forms. Cover with a damp cloth and set aside.
- 2
In a pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- 3
Add the minced lamb or beef to the pan. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Season with garam masala, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- 4
Once the meat is cooked, remove from heat and allow the filling to cool slightly.
- 5
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 2mm thickness. Cut into circles using a cutter or a cup.
- 6
Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle. Fold over to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing down or crimping with a fork.
- 7
Heat oil in a deep pan for frying. Fry the samoosas in batches until golden brown on all sides. Drain on paper towels.
- 8
Serve hot with chutney or your favorite dipping sauce.
