Experience the warm, inviting aroma of freshly baked Samoon, a traditional Middle Eastern bread. With its soft texture and subtle olive oil flavor, it's perfect for sharing at family gatherings or enjoying with your favorite dips.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 kg all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Method
- 1
In a small bowl, mix warm water with the yeast and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- 3
Mix the ingredients until they form a dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal-sized balls.
- 6
Shape each ball into an oval, making a slight indentation in the center. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- 8
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before serving.
