Savor the rich flavors of these crispy samboosas, filled with spiced ground beef and onions, enveloped in a golden pastry. Ideal for a festive gathering or a cozy weeknight snack that brings warmth to your table.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup vegetable oil
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and enough water to form a soft dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- 2
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- 3
In a skillet, heat a little oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add the ground beef, cumin, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through.
- 4
Roll the dough into small balls and flatten each ball into a round shape. Cut each round in half to form two semicircles.
- 5
Take one semicircle, fold it into a cone shape and seal the edges. Fill the cone with the beef mixture and seal the open edge by pressing firmly.
- 6
In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the samboosas in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 7
Remove the samboosas and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 8
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or chutney.
