Savor the vibrant flavors of this Middle Eastern-inspired Rouze, a fragrant rice dish infused with cumin and fresh parsley. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or as a delightful side for your next gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups long-grain rice
- 4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 cup chopped fresh parsley
Method
- 1
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch.
- 2
In a pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the rinsed rice and stir for about 2 minutes until the rice is well-coated and slightly toasted.
- 3
Add the water (or chicken broth), salt, cumin, and black pepper to the pot. Bring to a boil.
- 4
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- 5
Remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for another 5 minutes to steam the rice.
- 6
Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
