Indulge in the rich flavors of Rezala, a traditional South Asian curry made with tender mutton or beef simmered in a creamy yogurt sauce with aromatic spices. Perfect for a cozy family dinner or a festive gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 grams mutton or beef
- 2 onion finely sliced
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoons ghee or cooking oil
- 1 cup water
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, marinate the mutton or beef with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Heat ghee or oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- 3
Add the marinated meat to the pot and cook on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 4
Pour in the water, cover the pot, and let it simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the meat is tender.
- 5
Once the meat is tender, check the seasoning and adjust if necessary. Cook uncovered for an additional 5-10 minutes to thicken the gravy.
- 6
Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
- 7
Serve hot with naan or steamed rice, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
