- 1 kg beef (chuck or brisket)
- 400 ml coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 3 tablespoons rendang spice paste
- 3 leaves kaffir lime leaves
- 2 sticks cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon salt
Method

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add the rendang spice paste and sauté for about 5 minutes until fragrant.

Add the beef cubes to the pot and brown them on all sides.

Pour in the coconut milk, tamarind paste, kaffir lime leaves, cinnamon sticks, and salt.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer uncovered for about 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beef is tender and the sauce thickens.

Taste and adjust salt if necessary. Cook until the oil separates from the sauce.
