Savor the hearty flavors of Rakvičky, a traditional Eastern European dish featuring tender beef, earthy potatoes, and aromatic garlic. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner that warms the soul.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 g beef
- 200 g potatoes
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Method
- 1
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- 2
Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- 3
Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- 4
Stir in the grated potatoes, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 5
Once the mixture is well combined and the potatoes are tender, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 6
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Shape the mixture into small oval or coffin-like shapes (rakvičky) and place them on a baking tray.
- 7
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- 8
Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
