Quroot is a delightful Middle Eastern dish made from creamy yogurt and spiced with cumin, perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a unique brunch treat. Enjoy its warm, comforting flavors paired with fresh herbs or a tangy salad.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups yogurt
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 tablespoons oil
Method
- 1
In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, flour, salt, and baking powder.
- 2
Gradually add water to the mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
- 3
If using, mix in the cumin seeds for added flavor.
- 4
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- 5
Once the oil is hot, take small pieces of dough and flatten them into discs.
- 6
Fry the discs in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 7
Remove the Quroot from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- 8
Serve the Quroot warm, optionally with chutney or pickles on the side.
