Experience the heartwarming flavors of Puchero Criollo, a traditional Latin stew brimming with tender beef and pork, vibrant vegetables, and aromatic spices. Ideal for cozy family dinners or festive gatherings.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 grams beef (shank or chuck)
- 300 grams pork (ribs or shoulder)
- 4 cups water
- 2 medium carrots
- 2 medium potatoes
- 1 cup pumpkin
- 1 small onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Method
- 1
In a large pot, add the beef and pork pieces. Cover with water and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- 2
Skim off any foam that rises to the surface, then reduce the heat to low. Add the whole onion, garlic, and salt.
- 3
Cover the pot and simmer for about 1 hour, allowing the meat to become tender.
- 4
After an hour, add the carrots, potatoes, and pumpkin. Stir gently and continue to cook for another 30-40 minutes.
- 5
Once the vegetables are tender and the meat is falling off the bone, taste and adjust the seasoning with black pepper.
- 6
Remove the onion and serve the puchero hot, with the meat and vegetables in bowls.
