Indulge in these airy profiteroles, filled with luscious whipped cream and drizzled with rich chocolate sauce. A delightful French treat, perfect for special occasions or a sweet finish to a cozy dinner.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 pinch salt
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whipped cream
- 1/2 cup chocolate sauce
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
In a saucepan, combine the water, butter, and salt over medium heat. Stir until the butter is melted.
- 3
Add the flour all at once and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- 4
Remove the pan from heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Then, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
- 5
Using a piping bag, pipe small mounds of dough (about 1 inch in diameter) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- 6
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are puffed and golden brown. Do not open the oven door while they bake.
- 7
Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
- 8
Once cooled, cut the profiteroles in half, fill them with whipped cream, and drizzle with chocolate sauce before serving.
