- 1 kg beef chuck
- 4 medium potatoes
- 2 large carrots
- 1 cup onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 cup beef stock
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon mixed herbs
- Salt to taste salt

Method

Heat the olive oil in a cast iron pot (potjie) over medium heat.

Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, sautéing until translucent.

Add the beef cubes to the pot, browning them on all sides.

Layer the potatoes and carrots on top of the beef, followed by the mixed herbs, salt, and pepper.

Pour in the beef stock or water, ensuring the ingredients are not completely submerged.

Cover the pot and simmer on low heat for about 2 hours without lifting the lid.

After 2 hours, check for seasoning and adjust if necessary.
