Experience the heartwarming flavors of South Africa with Potjiekos, a slow-cooked beef stew layered with tender potatoes and carrots. Ideal for cozy family dinners or gatherings, this dish warms both the heart and soul.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef chuck
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 2 large carrots
  • 1 cup onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon mixed herbs
  • Salt to taste salt
  • Pepper to taste black pepper

Method

  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a cast iron pot (potjie) over medium heat.

  2. 2

Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, sautéing until translucent.
