- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Method

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine honey and brown sugar, mixing until well combined.

Add the eggs and milk to the mixture and whisk until smooth.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, and cinnamon.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. If using, fold in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the piernik to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
