Indulge in the warm, spiced goodness of Pfeffernüsse, traditional German cookies infused with cinnamon, ginger, and honey. Perfect for holiday gatherings or cozy evenings with a cup of tea.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup honey
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chopped almonds
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, baking powder, and chopped almonds until a dough forms.
- 3
Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 1 inch apart.
- 4
Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cookies are firm to the touch.
- 5
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- 6
Once cooled, dust the Pfeffernüsse with powdered sugar before serving.
