Savor the bold flavors of Italy with this Penne Arrabbiata, a fiery dish featuring al dente pasta tossed in a spicy garlic-tomato sauce. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a gathering with friends, it's sure to impress!
IngredientsWhat you need
- 400 grams penne pasta
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 400 grams canned whole tomatoes
- salt to taste
- fresh basil for garnish
- 50 grams Parmesan cheese, grated
Method
- 1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- 2
While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- 3
Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
- 4
Add the canned whole tomatoes to the skillet, crushing them gently with a spoon. Season with salt to taste and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes.
- 5
Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and add it directly to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to combine.
- 6
Cook together for another 2 minutes, allowing the pasta to absorb the flavors of the sauce.
- 7
Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
