IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup ghee or butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Mix well.
- 2
Add the oil to the flour mixture and rub it in with your fingers until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3
Gradually add water, kneading the dough until it is soft and pliable. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 20 minutes.
- 4
After resting, divide the dough into equal portions (about 8). Roll each portion into a ball.
- 5
On a floured surface, roll each ball into a flat circle. Apply ghee or butter on top and fold it in half. Then apply ghee again and fold it again to form a triangle.
- 6
Roll the triangle gently to a larger size, about 6-8 inches. Heat a tava or skillet over medium heat.
- 7
Cook the paratha on the tava, applying ghee on both sides until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 8
Repeat the process with remaining dough portions. Serve hot with yogurt or pickles.
