Savor the comforting flavors of Papas Chorreadas, a Colombian delight featuring creamy potatoes smothered in rich cheese and aromatic spices. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with loved ones.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 kg potatoes
- 1 cup cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
Method
- 1
Peel the potatoes and cut them into halves or quarters depending on their size. Place them in a large pot of salted water and boil until tender, about 20 minutes.
- 2
While the potatoes are cooking, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
- 3
Stir in the cumin and cook for an additional minute. Then, add the milk to the skillet and bring to a simmer.
- 4
Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and return them to the pot. Mash them lightly, leaving some chunks for texture. Stir in the cheese and the milk mixture, mixing until well-combined.
- 5
Season the mixture with salt to taste. If desired, you can add more cheese or milk for a creamier consistency.
- 6
Transfer the papas chorreadas to a serving dish and serve warm, garnished with additional crumbled cheese if desired.
