Indulge in the warm, cheesy goodness of Pão de Queijo, a Brazilian treat made with tapioca flour and a blend of Parmesan and mozzarella. Perfect for a cozy snack or as a delightful appetizer at your next gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups tapioca flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet.
- 2
In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, vegetable oil, and salt. Heat over medium heat until it starts to boil.
- 3
Remove the saucepan from heat and gradually add the tapioca flour, stirring until the mixture is smooth and combined.
- 4
Allow the dough to cool slightly, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- 5
Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and, if using, the shredded mozzarella cheese until evenly distributed.
- 6
Using your hands, shape the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are lightly golden.
- 8
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving warm.
