Experience the vibrant flavors of Indian street food with Pani Puri, a delightful combination of crispy puris filled with spiced potato and tangy pani. Perfect for a fun appetizer at your next gathering or a festive celebration.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina (sooji)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • water as needed for dough
  • 1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon black salt
  • 1 cup pani (spiced water)

Method

  1. 1

In a mixing bowl, combine semolina, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

Gradually add water to the mixture and knead into a smooth, stiff dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.

  3. 3

After resting, divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a thin disc, about 2 inches in diameter.

  4. 4

Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the puris until they puff up and turn golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

In a separate bowl, mix the mashed potatoes with black salt and adjust seasoning as needed.

  6. 6

Make a small hole in the center of each puri and stuff it with the potato mixture.

  7. 7

Serve immediately with pani (spiced water) in a bowl for dipping.
