Savor the vibrant flavors of Kenya with Nyama Choma, a mouthwatering grilled beef dish seasoned to perfection and served with a refreshing kachumbari salad. Ideal for weekend gatherings or a festive barbecue.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 kg beef (preferably sirloin or rib-eye)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 cup kachumbari (fresh tomato and onion salad)
- 4 pieces skewers
Method
- 1
Prepare the beef by cutting it into large chunks and marinating it with salt, black pepper, and paprika for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Soak the skewers in water if using wooden ones, to prevent burning during grilling.
- 3
Skewer the marinated beef chunks onto the skewers, leaving some space between each piece.
- 4
Heat a grill or barbecue, and brush it with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
- 5
Place the skewers on the grill, cooking for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the meat is cooked and slightly charred.
- 6
Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
- 7
Serve the Nyama Choma with kachumbari on the side for a fresh contrast.
