Savor the vibrant flavors of Indonesia with Nasi Pecel, a delightful dish featuring fragrant rice topped with crispy tofu, fresh bean sprouts, and a rich peanut sauce. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 200 grams tofu
  • 100 grams bean sprouts
  • 100 grams water spinach (kangkung)
  • 3 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Method

  1. 1

Prepare the rice according to package instructions and keep it warm.

  2. 2

In a frying pan, heat a little oil over medium heat and fry the tofu cubes until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

  3. 3

In the same pan, add the minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant. Add the bean sprouts and water spinach, cooking just until they wilt. Remove from heat.

  4. 4

In a bowl, mix the peanut butter, sweet soy sauce, and lime juice until smooth to create the pecel dressing.

  5. 5

To serve, place a portion of cooked rice on each plate. Top with the sautéed vegetables and tofu, then drizzle with the pecel dressing.

  6. 6

Garnish with additional bean sprouts if desired and serve immediately while warm.
