Indulge in the rich flavors of Nasi Padang, a vibrant Indonesian feast featuring aromatic jasmine rice, tender beef rendang, crispy fried chicken, and spicy sambal. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups jasmine rice
  • 400 ml coconut milk
  • 2 cups water
  • 500 g beef rendang
  • 4 pieces fried chicken wings
  • 200 g sambal chili
  • 4 pieces boiled eggs
  • 100 g fried tofu

Method

  1. 1

Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak it for 30 minutes, then drain.

  2. 2

In a pot, combine the soaked rice, coconut milk, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes until the rice is cooked and fluffy.

  3. 3

While the rice is cooking, prepare the beef rendang by heating it in a separate pot until warmed through, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

Fry the chicken wings in hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

Plate the cooked rice, then arrange the beef rendang, fried chicken wings, boiled eggs, fried tofu, and sambal chili around the rice.

  6. 6

Serve hot, allowing guests to mix and match their preferred ingredients with the rice.
