Indulge in the vibrant flavors of Nalyvka, a traditional Eastern European berry-infused liqueur. Perfect for toasting at gatherings or savoring on a cozy evening, this delightful drink combines fresh berries, zesty lemon, and a hint of cinnamon.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 liter homemade vodka or high-proof spirit
- 500 grams berries (cherries, blackberries, or blueberries)
- 200 grams sugar
- 1 lemon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cinnamon stick cinnamon stick
Method
- 1
In a clean glass jar or bottle, combine the berries and sugar. Mix well until the sugar starts to dissolve.
- 2
Add the vodka (or high-proof spirit) to the berry and sugar mixture. Stir gently to combine.
- 3
Squeeze the fresh lemon juice into the mixture and add the vanilla extract if using. Stir again.
- 4
Add the cinnamon stick to the jar. Seal the jar tightly.
- 5
Place the jar in a cool, dark place and let it steep for at least 2 weeks. Shake the jar gently every few days.
- 6
After steeping, strain the nalyvka through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove solids.
- 7
Pour the strained liquid into clean bottles. Seal tightly and refrigerate.
- 8
Serve chilled as a digestif or dessert drink. Enjoy the rich flavors of your homemade nalyvka!
