Savor the vibrant flavors of Mojarra Frita, a crispy fried fish dish seasoned with salt and pepper, served with zesty lemon and fresh cilantro. Ideal for a lively weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 4 pieces mojarra fish
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 2 cups vegetable oil
- 1 lemon juiced
- 4 sprigs fresh cilantro
- 1 cup fried plantains
Method
- 1
Rinse the mojarra fish under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- 2
In a small bowl, mix the salt and black pepper. Rub this mixture inside and outside of the fish.
- 3
Coat the seasoned fish evenly in cornstarch, ensuring they are fully covered.
- 4
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches around 180°C (350°F).
- 5
Carefully place the coated fish into the hot oil and fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Once cooked, remove the fish from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 7
Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the fried fish and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
- 8
Serve the Mojarra Frita with fried plantains on the side.
