Savor the bold flavors of East Africa with these spicy Mishkaki skewers, featuring tender beef or goat marinated in garlic, ginger, and soy sauce. Perfect for a weekend barbecue or a lively gathering with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 grams beef or goat meat, cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 skewers wooden or metal skewers
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the cubed meat, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the meat evenly.
- 2
Cover the bowl and marinate the meat in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours for better flavor.
- 3
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, ensure they are soaked in water to prevent burning.
- 4
Thread the marinated meat onto the skewers, ensuring they are packed tightly but not overcrowded.
- 5
Brush the skewers lightly with vegetable oil, then place them on the grill.
- 6
Grill the skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the meat is cooked to your desired doneness.
- 7
Remove from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
- 8
Serve the Mishkaki hot with a side of ugali or a fresh salad.
