Indulge in a delightful Austrian Millirahmstrudel, where flaky strudel pastry envelops a creamy quark filling, sweetened with a hint of vanilla. This charming dessert is perfect for a cozy evening or a festive gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet strudel pastry
  • 200 g quark cheese
  • 100 ml heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 egg egg (for egg wash)
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Method

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).

  2. 2

In a bowl, mix the quark cheese, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.

  3. 3

Lay the strudel pastry on a clean, floured surface. Spoon the quark mixture onto the pastry, leaving a border around the edges.

  4. 4

Carefully roll the strudel from one side to the other, sealing the edges to prevent filling from leaking out.

  5. 5

If using, beat the egg and brush it over the strudel for a golden finish.

  6. 6

Place the strudel on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 7

Once baked, let it cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.

  8. 8

Slice and serve warm, enjoying the creamy filling inside the crispy pastry.
