Experience the warmth of Eastern European tradition with Medovukha, a honey-based beverage infused with cinnamon and a hint of lemon. Perfect for cozy gatherings or as a festive treat during chilly evenings.

Ingredients

  • 1 liter water
  • 200 grams honey
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 10 grams yeast
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 lemon juice

Method

  1. 1

In a large pot, bring the water to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in honey and sugar until fully dissolved.

  3. 3

Allow the mixture to cool to around 30°C (86°F) before adding the yeast.

  4. 4

Stir in the yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

  5. 5

Add ground cinnamon and lemon juice to the mixture and stir well.

  6. 6

Transfer the mixture to a clean fermenting vessel and cover loosely with a cloth.

  7. 7

Let it ferment at room temperature for about 10 minutes. It should start bubbling.

  8. 8

Serve chilled, pouring into glasses and enjoy your homemade Medovukha.
