IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 grams semolina flour
- 250 ml warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 10 grams yeast
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, mix the semolina flour, salt, sugar, and optional baking powder together.
- 2
In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- 3
Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and stir until a dough forms. Add more water if necessary to achieve the right consistency.
- 4
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form it into a ball.
- 5
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 6
Once risen, gently deflate the dough and shape it into flat rounds about 1 cm thick.
- 7
Cook the rounds on a hot, dry skillet over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- 8
Serve warm with honey, butter, or jams as desired.
