Indulge in the sweet, nutty flavors of Maleeda, a delightful Indian flatbread made with whole wheat flour and infused with aromatic cardamom. Perfect for a cozy breakfast or a festive gathering, it's a treat for the senses.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup ghee or clarified butter
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (almonds or pistachios)
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, mix the whole wheat flour and salt together.
- 2
Gradually add water to the flour mixture, kneading until a soft dough forms. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- 3
Roll the rested dough into small discs, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 4
In a skillet, heat the ghee over medium heat. Cook each disc for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- 5
In a separate pot, combine the milk, sugar, and ground cardamom. Heat until the sugar dissolves.
- 6
Break the cooked discs into small pieces and place them in a serving dish. Pour the warm milk mixture over the top.
- 7
Garnish with chopped nuts and serve warm. Enjoy your Maleeda!
