Indulge in Malai Kofta, a rich Indian dish featuring creamy paneer and vegetable dumplings simmered in a fragrant spiced gravy. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with loved ones.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups grated paneer
- 1 medium boiled potato
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup mixed vegetables
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 cup onion puree
Method
- 1
In a bowl, combine grated paneer, mashed potato, cornstarch, and salt. Mix well to form a dough.
- 2
Divide the dough into small balls and stuff each with a few pieces of mixed vegetables. Roll them into smooth koftas.
- 3
Heat ghee in a pan and fry the koftas until golden brown. Remove and set aside on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 4
In the same pan, add onion puree and sauté until golden. Add turmeric powder and garam masala, stirring for a minute.
- 5
Pour in the heavy cream and simmer on low heat for about 5-7 minutes until thickened. Adjust salt as needed.
- 6
Add the fried koftas to the sauce and let them soak for another 5 minutes on low heat.
- 7
Serve hot with naan or rice, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
