- 500 ml milk

Boil water in a large pot and cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir continuously for about 2 minutes until it forms a roux.

Gradually add the milk to the roux, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth. This will take about 5-7 minutes.
