Indulge in the creamy delight of Leite Creme, a Portuguese custard infused with vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. This velvety dessert is perfect for a cozy evening or a special family gathering.

Ingredients

  • 500 ml whole milk
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 40 g cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder

Method

    In a saucepan, combine the whole milk, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is warm, stirring occasionally.

    In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a few tablespoons of the warm milk mixture until smooth. This will help to avoid lumps.

    Pour the cornstarch mixture back into the saucepan with the warm milk. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens and starts to bubble.

    Once thickened, remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract.

    Pour the mixture into individual ramekins or a serving dish. Smooth the top with a spatula.
