Savor the vibrant flavors of Lahmacun, a Turkish flatbread topped with spiced ground lamb, fresh tomatoes, and herbs. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a fun gathering with friends, this dish is a delightful twist on pizza.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 150 ml warm water
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 200 g ground lamb or beef
- 1 medium onion
- 1 medium tomato
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp parsley
Method
- 1
In a bowl, mix the warm water and yeast, letting it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and knead to form a soft dough.
- 3
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
- 4
In a separate bowl, combine ground meat, chopped onion, tomato, red pepper flakes, and season with salt. Mix well.
- 5
Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F). Roll out the dough into thin circles on a floured surface.
- 6
Spread a thin layer of the meat mixture on top of each dough circle.
- 7
Place the lahmacun on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until the edges are crispy and the meat is cooked through.
- 8
Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve hot with fresh lemon wedges.
